MELAKA: Perikatan Nasional will reveal its election manifesto this Sunday (Nov 14), says its Melaka chairman Datuk Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen (pic).

He said the manifesto will include holistic plans for Melaka and show what the coalition has to offer the people.

"InsyaAllah, nobody will be left behind (in the manifesto) and we will ensure all groups including youth, women and senior citizens from various backgrounds will pick Perikatan as their platform," he told reporters at Masjid Alai here on Friday (Nov 12).

The manifesto will be launched at Glenmarie Hotel and Resort in Shah Alam at 5pm on Sunday by Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan announced their respective manifestos on Wednesday (Nov 10).

Both coalitions also announced their respective pick for chief minister, namely Barisan's Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali and Melaka Pakatan chief Adly Zahari.

Perikatan has said that it will only announce a chief minister candidate after the state election on Nov 20.

Mohd Rafiq said the coalition has been receiving positive response from the public regarding all 28 of its candidates.

"This is perhaps because we fielded more than 50% candidates who are below 40 years old and 90% who are highly educated," he said.

On the comments made by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who had reportedly said it would work with PAS but not with Perikatan linchpin Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) should it win the election, Mohd Rafiq said it is up to Umno to make its own stand.

"Despite Umno not wanting to accept Bersatu, PAS is still with us.

"We will not wait for Umno to agree to work with us.

"(From the start) we extended our arms wide based on the concept of perpaduan ummah (unity of the Muslim community).

"But when they rejected us, (it was) not only Bersatu, but other parties in Perikatan.

"We will not wait for Umno but will work to strengthen ourselves on our own," Mohd Rafiq added.
