A power outage on Metra train lines caused significant delays Tuesday morning.
A 16th Street substation, which supplies power to the overhead wires that power the trains, failed about 8:20 a.m. causing all trains between Jackson and 35th street to lose power, according to Metra spokesperson Meg Reili.
There was no power for about an hour, Reili said. At least 450 people were affected by the delays.
The cause of the outage is unknown, Reili said.
“This is unusual,” Reili said. “Storms, yes, could cause issues like this but it is unusual to go down on a day like today.”
