QUETTA: The Pakistan Collectorate of Customs (Appraisement) has granted permission for the import of iron scrap through Bazarcha Terminal at the Pakistan-Iran border.

A public notice issued by the additional collector Customs, Kaleem Ullah, informed the authorities concerned that the permission allows the import of iron and steel articles, waste and scrap from Iran through the Bazarcha Terminal at Taftan.

Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mohammad Ayub Miriani and Haji Akhtar Kakar praised the development and said they have fulfilled their commitment to Balochistan’s scrap importers.

This would, “streamline the import process” for the business community, he added.

The development is expected to reduce transportation costs for importers and meet the steel industry’s demand, positively impacting the construction sector.

The permission to import scrap and iron from Bazarcha Terminal fulfills a long-standing demand from Balochistan’s business community.
