PETALING JAYA: After being separated for three years, single mother Loh Siew Hong and her three children have been busy making up for lost time by going for a short holiday and cooking their favourite dishes together.
“I took my children to Genting Highlands on Tuesday and they had the time of their lives.
“It has been three years since they last went out and had fun,” said the assistant chef, who works in Genting Highlands but is currently on unpaid leave.
Loh, 35, said she had also bought some new clothes for her twin daughters, 14, and her 10-year-old son.
“My boy was moved to tears and asked why I bought expensive clothing for them.
“I told him that I had saved up money for them over the past three years and it was fine for me to spend it on them,” she said.
Loh added that she and her children also had fun cooking together.
“They are truly happy to be finally back with me.
“They told me that they had missed my cooking and asked me to cook so many dishes, including ayam kicap and traditional Indian food,” she revealed.
The Penangite said she enjoyed cooking with her children, and her eldest daughter told her that she had learnt to cook when Loh wasn’t with them in the past three years.
“Now, we are catching up with each other and trying to make up for lost time,” Loh added.
On Monday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court allowed Loh’s habeas corpus application and ordered her children to be released from the Social Welfare Department’s care and back into her custody.
After her divorce in 2019, she was granted sole custody of the children by the High Court.
However, Loh, an alleged domestic violence victim, lost contact with her children for three years.
He ex-husband, an Indian-Muslim convert, took the children to Perlis and arranged for them to be converted to Islam.
He has since been arrested for a drug offence and is now in prison in Kelantan.
