PONTIAN: Police here are hunting for two suspects after a machete attack on a man at a restaurant in Benut town near here on Monday (Feb 14).
Pontian OCPD Supt Mohammad Shofee Tayib said Benut police received a call about the incident at 3.20pm.
He said policemen were deployed to the scene and interviewed witnesses there.
“The 40-year victim suffered severe injuries on the right arm and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment," said Supt Mohammad Shofee.
He said according to witnesses, two men escaped in a white multi-purpose vehicle.
“The number plate of the vehicle used (for the getaway) was fake," he added.
CCTV footage from the restaurant was collected as evidence in the case, which is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
