PETALING JAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) checked nearly 1,000 delivery riders and their machines along the Federal Highway here on Tuesday (Oct 12).
Selangor JPJ director Nazli Md Taib said they conducted the operations which focused on delivery riders after receiving numerous complaints against them.
"We began statewide operations from Oct 8 with roadblocks set up at various locations such as MAEPS Serdang, PJS Toll Plaza, Section 7 Shah Alam, Persiaran Puchong Prima, Terminal Klang and Kemuning Toll Plaza.
"We checked 959 vehicles in total and took action against 247 vehicles throughout the operations.
"Among the violations committed included traffic light offences, riding against traffic, not having a valid licence, using mobile phones, illegal modifications and not having side mirrors," he told reporters when met at the scene on Tuesday.
He said during the operations on Tuesday, a total of 46 JPJ personnel assisted by six police personnel checked 81 vehicles and took action against 27.
"The police also issued 27 summonses to motorists during the operations.
"Our personnel equipped with Enforcement Action Cameras also took pictures of 20 vehicles that evaded the road block today," he said, adding that notices would be issued to these motorcyclists and if they fail to turn up for questioning, their motorcycles and licences would be blacklisted.
