A HEAVILY pregnant mum has told how her "hellish" mould-ravaged council flat has been overrun by mice and maggots.

Hayley Wills, 29, has hit out at her local council as she and her three children are now being affected "mentally, physically and medically" by the conditions.

Hayley Wills, who is due to give birth in just four weeks, has 'had enough' of the horrific conditions 5

The home in Yardley, Birmingham has been overrun by mice and maggots 5

The rodents leave droppings all over her flat - which her toddler son picks up

She said rodents have chewed through "everything" - school uniforms, the unborn baby's clothes, and the box for a cot - while leaving a trail of droppings on the sofa.

"I could clean my living room, leave for the night, I'd go back in and take the cushions off and there's mice poo under my cushions and my sofa," Hayley said.

"My youngest son, he picks up everything, he's a toddler he puts

       everything in his mouth."

The 29-year-old then found three dead mice behind her washing machine at her flat in Yardley, Birmingham.

"I heard squeaking and when I looked, there were three dead mice stuck

       behind the washing machine.

"I've had to pull it out and where they'd been dead for a few days they had got maggots in."

She has also been having to traipse her sons, aged ten, seven, and two, to her brothers home half-an-hour away to make food, as her cooker has been broken for over a week.

The family moved into the two-bed flat in November 2018 for temporary accommodation - but is now desperate to escape ahead of her fourth child's arrival after being "abandoned" by authorities.

Hayley, who is due to give birth in just four weeks, claims it has taken her TWO years just to get on the bidding list with Birmingham City Council.

She says she is now bidding on properties each week so she can get out of the gruesome home, which is one bed less than she is now eligible for.

The mum explained: "The problems were already here before I moved in.

"When I got there they told me the property had just been fumigated

from rats and mice, we didn't notice anything at first.

"The mice are everywhere [now]. I washed all the baby clothes, but I'm

having to store things at my neighbours because the mice are

destroying everything, they're chewing through my children's uniforms.

       'HAD ENOUGH'

"My unborn baby's cot is stored underneath my bed, they've chewed

       through the box.

"I shouldn't be here in three years, I should have had the support and

the help that I needed. They've just put me in here and left me in

       here."

Hayley says she had "had enough" of dealing with the horrors and mould around her home as "there's nothing she can do" to fix it.

"I'm constantly cleaning the walls in the bedrooms. I've tried to make the flat look more homely, less clinical, more adequate for my kids to feel like it's a home.

"They went to my mum's in the six-week holiday and when they came back

they cried their eyes out because they just don't want to be in this

place no more - and I understand.

"I wake up every morning and I don't want to get out of bed, I don't

want to get up and do nothing because there's nothing I can do that

       will better this place.

"It's affecting not only me, but my children, mentally, physically and

       medically."

The soon-to-be mother-of-four, who is unemployed due to ongoing issues, has been riled further after waiting for the council to repair her cooker for more than a week.

"I'm still waiting for someone to come and look at the cooker, it's not just the mice," Hayley said.

"I've had to use my neighbour's cooker or my brother's cooker, I have

to take food from my house, go and cook for my kids while they're at

school and handle things before they get back so I can keep them in a

       routine."

The desperate mum has called on the council to help her as she reaches breaking point.

A spokesman for Birmingham City Council said: "We are very sorry for

the distress that the mice at this property have caused the tenant.

"The property has now been inspected by a pest control officer and a

treatment programme to control the current mouse infestation has

       begun.

"Regular bait monitoring will take place over the coming weeks until

the current rodent issue has been eliminated.

"A programme of works has also been agreed with the tenant to repair

or replace those items in the property which are defective or broken

       including the cooker.

"The only mould which the inspection found was behind the toilet which

was minor and has been treated."
