TOKYO -- Japan's weather agency is warning residents of potential mudslides and floods as heavy rain is expected on the Japanese mainland through July 13.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says thunderstorms are forecast for wide areas from the Tohoku region in the northeast to west Japan.
According to Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc., 15,271 households in Tokyo and five other prefectures under the utility's coverage had lost power as of 5:09 p.m. on July 11, but electricity had mostly been restored by the following morning.
