IPOH: Those paying their quit rent in full this month can enjoy a 50% discount, says Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad (pic).

       Saarani said the discount was part of the second phase of the state's economic stimulus package.

       "Payment must be in a lump sum to enjoy the discount.

       "Those who are paying in October will get a 30% discount while a 10% discount will be offered for those paying in November and December," he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 6).

       "Landowners who make payments in instalments cannot enjoy the incentive," he said.

       Other offers, he said, included the extension of the 20% discount for commercial strata titles until Dec 31 and 10% land premium discount for those served with Notice 5A (notice that land revenue is due) and Notice 7G (notice that payment is due), subject to terms and conditions.

       "The discount does not apply to any premium that was approved at a nominal rate," he said.

       Saarani also said the exemption of penalty for late payment of quit rent was extended until Dec 31.

       He said the penalty exemption also extended to submission of transactions and collection of titles.

       "We are also offering an extension for the approval of transfers or mortgages. There will also be an automatic extension of Notice 5A and 7G and also a waiver of the application fee," he said.
