COSMETICS entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida (pic) said she was saddened by the fact that social media users keep criticising her, Utusan Malaysia reported.

“What did I do wrong? Why can’t people accept everything that I’m trying to do?” she said in a video uploaded on her TikTok account.

“Usually, when I return from my hotel, I will turn on my phone to check the comments.

“I am still being criticised even though I have got better,” Vida, whose real name is Hasmiza Othman, said on TikTok.

The millionaire also said that although she may look happy, only God knows how she feels deep inside.

It didn’t go well, going by comments to her video.

“Datuk Seri is like my mother who doesn’t listen to advice. She only feels pain when things happen. Tired of seeing her,” commented one user.

“Why don’t you just focus on your business since you are so good in that field,” commented another.

       > Having produced more than 20,000 printed batik blocks over the past 40 years, Zakaria Che Ahmad of Kampung Senang in Kota Jembal, Kelantan, has become an icon, Sinar Harian reported.

Zakaria, 65, who started making batik blocks in 1978, said each one took three to five days depending on the type and pattern requested by the customer.

“The price ranges from RM50 to RM500. Usually, customers will call me to make a reservation.

“They will send me a picture of the flower or pattern they want. I will draw it first and send it to them.

“Then, I will start cutting the copper according to the desired pattern. After completing this, I will send it back to them with instructions on how to take care of the block,” he said.

Zakaria said the blocks are also used in products such as clothes, souvenirs, sheets and pillow cases.

Commenting on the future of the art, he said although it is not a popular job, it should be preserved.
