MEMBERS of Parliament, their officers and other staff present at the Parliament vicinity during the current meeting will need to undergo the Covid-19 saliva RTK test every Monday and Wednesday.

       Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said the Parliament committee decided on the matter during a meeting yesterday to ensure the Covid-19 chain of infection at the Parliament building could be controlled.

       The first test will be conducted today.

       “The test will be conducted at the Banquet Hall for the MPs while their officers will undergo the test at the Multipurpose Hall.

       “The whole process will take about 20 minutes per person,” he said.

       Azhar also suggested that all MPs take turns entering the Dewan Rakyat.

       “The MPs are encouraged to wear double face masks and face shields inside the House, including during debates.

       “The MP rotation system in the Dewan Rakyat is carried out every hour as part of a measure to curb transmission of Covid-19 in the Dewan Rakyat,” he said.

       Azhar added that the Parliament management had also improved the ventilation and air conditioning system.
