JOHOR BARU: Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong (pic) and party state deputy publicity secretary Marina Ibrahim have been named to contest the Perling and Skudai state seats, respectively.
Liew and Marina replaced Cheo Yee How and Tan Hong Pin, the two-term assemblymen for Perling and Skudai, respectively, who were dropped from the line-up.
Both former assemblymen won with huge majorities in GE14.
The two candidacies were announced by party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng yesterday.
Perling will be the first state seat Liew is contesting in his political career. Previously, he contested in the Bukit Bendera, Kluang and Ayer Hitam parliamentary seats.
Marina, meanwhile, is making her debut.
Liew and Marina will contest under the Pakatan Harapan ticket.
Following the announcement, all the 14 candidates named in the upcoming state election, who will contest under the Pakatan Harapan banner, received their endorsement letters from the coalition.
Among the seats DAP will contest are Tangkak, Senai, Yong Peng, Pekan Nenas, Bentayan, Bekok, Johor Jaya, Mengkibol, Penggaram, Stulang, Johor Jaya and Paloh.
