GEORGE TOWN: The mass Covid-19 screening under the Penang Saring Covid-19 programme or PSC-19 at the City Stadium will see about 1,000 people tested starting from Monday (July 5).
Penang Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee Chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo (pic) said those to be tested would be from the Padang Kota, Datuk Keramat, Sungai Pinang, Pulau Tikus, Pengkalan Kota and Batu Lanchang constituencies.
"There will be six waiting and testing booths with about 20 medical personnel to facilitate the process.
"RTK Antigen (RTK-Ag) tests will be used and results can be ready within two hours.
"If any of them is tested positive for Covid-19, they will be contacted to undergo a RT-PCR test," said Jagdeep after visiting the site on Friday (July 2).
A RT-PCR test has a 99.9% accuracy.
He said the 40 state constituencies have been allocated 1,000 slots each to undergo screening by the state government, adding those interested can register at penangsaring.selangkah.my.
The free testing programme prioritises residents living in hotspot areas, those involved in food and parcel deliveries, hawkers and traders of essential goods as well as high-risk individuals such as senior citizens.
