Cops raid 10 massage parlours in Bukit Bintang, detain 84

       KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 84 individuals, including 48 foreign women, have been detained after a series of raids on 10 massage parlours here.

       The raids were conducted by teams from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday (March 8).

       Male and female masseuses made up most of those arrested, numbering at 71.

       "The masseuses detained were two locals, 63 Myanmar nationals and one each from Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh, China and Cambodia.

       "We also detained 10 premises managers consisting of six locals, two Cambodians and two Myanmar nationals," the department said.

       Three Bangladeshi customers were also detained for not having valid travel documents.

       Among the items seized were RM3,979 cash, nine CCTV recorders, four WiFi modems, three routers, 13 masseuse work schedules, six business cards and 14 bottles of massage oil.

       The department said all 10 massage parlours employed foreign men and women without valid permits while eight premises did not have valid business licenses.

       Investigations showed that the massage parlours operated from 11am till 4am daily.

       Most masseuses did not have identification documents.

       "There were also foreign women who abused social visit passes by working as masseuses.

       "All those detained were brought to Dang Wangi police headquarters for further action," the department said.
