KOTA KINABALU: Fifty new mattresses have been sent to the Dewan Arena Belia Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) in Kunak following a complaint shared by a patient’s son on "uninhabitable" conditions there.
Sabah Health Department director Dr Rose Nani Mudin said on Sunday (Aug 22) the district office delivered the mattresses the previous evening.
“The PKRC has also been cleaned and the mattresses have been placed on all the patient beds,” she said.
On Saturday (Aug 22), it was reported that a man took to social media to rant about the conditions of the quarantine centre where his 73-year-old father, who contracted the virus recently, was housed.
The man expressed concern over the seemingly lax observance of standard operating procedures (SOP) there, where he claimed beds were placed too close to one another and no sheets covered the pillows and beds.
A picture he shared showed some patients on beds with mattresses while unoccupied beds were without mattresses.
