A woman is dead, and four other people were injured early Saturday when the van they were traveling in struck a viaduct median in the West Town neighborhood, Chicago police said.

       Shortly after 2 a.m., a 41-year-old man was driving a van westbound on Lake Street when he struck a viaduct median in the 2600 block of West Lake Street, police said.

       A 41-year-old passenger was taken to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver was taken in fair condition to the same hospital, and three other passengers, two men and a woman, were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

       The Major Accidents Unit was investigating.
