PUTRAJAYA: The industrial vaccination centre (PPVIN) at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) will open its doors to more than 370 workers on its first day of operation today.

It has the capacity to vaccinate up to 1,500 industry workers daily in an organised and comfortable environment.

Managed by International SOS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, it is part of the Public-Private Partnership Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (Pikas).

Head of operations for healthcare organiser of International SOS (Malaysia) Dr Adrian Seng Fook Wai said the centre would undertake the vaccination exercise for industry workers from companies registered with the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti).

“Miti will decide which companies are eligible. Then they will send the list to us and we will be carrying out the vaccination for the companies,” he said.

In ensuring that there is no overcrowding, only 20 to 30 people are allowed into the centre at one time.

“We will make sure all the physical distancing measures are taken care of and we will adhere to the SOP,” he added.

The centre, which operates daily from 8am to 9pm, has also prepared a medical team and ambulance.

In case of an emergency, the patient will be sent to Putrajaya Hospital.

Under the Pikas programme, the government will provide free vaccines while the private sector will manage the administration of the PPVIN, and the employers are to bear the administration cost of vaccination of their employees.

International SOS (Malaysia) is the official partner of ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia established under the Health Ministry.

ProtectHealth has been appointed as the implementer of private medical practitioner participation in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme. — Bernama
