Two men held over rape allegations

       KUALA LUMPUR: Police here have detained two men for allegedly raping a woman and spiking her drink at an entertainment outlet in the city.

       Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief Asst Comm Kamaruzaman Elias said the two men in their 30s surrendered themselves at the Putra Heights police station at about 6pm on Saturday (Nov 20).

       "We are still in the midst of investigating the case further," he said when contacted on Sunday (Nov 21).

       It was previously reported that police were looking for two men in connection with the alleged rape.

       ACP Kamaruzaman had said that a police report was lodged by the victim at 8.06pm on Thursday (Nov 18), claiming she was raped by two unknown men.

       "Based on the report, the 19-year-old victim alleged that she along with a few friends that go to a night club at about 9pm on Wednesday (Nov 17). The victim was intoxicated after her drink was spiked with drugs," he said in a statement.

       The victim and her friend were then brought to a hotel in the city by the two suspects, he added.

       "She only realised she was raped after being told so by her friend," he said.

       He reminded the people not to speculate on the case or spread any unverified information as it could disrupt the ongoing investigation and cause public distress.

       He also urged those with information to contact the KL police hotline at 03-21460584/585 or any nearest police station.

       Meanwhile, an individual believed to be the victim's friend shared a chronology of the incident along with photos of the suspects on social media.
