TANJUNG MALIM: The Covid-19 vaccination programme for teenagers is well received judging by the receptive responses from students and parents.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said many students and parents were willing and prepared to accept the vaccine for the teenagers.

“As far as I know, there have been no reports of students declining the vaccine. It is important to be informed and to encourage students to be vaccinated,” he said after visiting the public vaccination centre for teenagers in SMK Proton City here yesterday.

“We all know the vaccine is important, having had the experience with vaccination for adults.

“The total cases of people getting admitted to wards have dropped,” he said.

“This is a sign that vaccines are needed and vaccination should be encouraged.”

On the preparations to reopen schools nationwide starting next month, Dr Mah said everything was in place and moving ahead according to the National Recovery Plan.

“Student safety is of paramount importance. We are going around (the country) to check schools to ensure these are properly ventilated.

“There are no issues so far,” he said.

Dr Mah also said schools that had air conditioners had been advised to set the temperature to an adequate one that was not too cold.

“It should between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius,” he said, adding that proper ventilation was of paramount importance.
