JOHOR BARU: Two foreign women are among seven people arrested in raids here which led to the seizure of drugs worth RM1.04mil.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the suspects, five men and two women aged 22 to 56, were rounded up in raids conducted between 3pm and 11pm on Saturday (Feb 5).
Police also seized 3.02kg of ecstasy powder valued at RM151,050 and 17.7kg of "magic mushrooms” worth RM885,100.
"We also confiscated three vehicles worth RM113,800 and RM21,850 in cash, bringing the total amount of drugs and assets seized to RM1.71mil.
"The syndicate has been operating since November and its modus operandi was to send drugs by courier service to its markets in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak,” he told reporters here on Thursday (Feb 10).
Comm Kamarul Zaman said two of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine while the rest had criminal records, including drug offences.
All the suspects have been remanded for seven days until this Saturday (Feb 12) to help with the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
