PETALING JAYA: More than 90% of the 12,541 new cases reported on July 16 (Friday) have mild or no symptoms, says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said 6,504 (or 51.9%) of the cases had no symptoms and belonged to Category 1.
There were 5,848 (or 46.6%) of the new cases that were classified as Category 2, which meant they had mild symptoms.
However, there were 86 new Category 3 patients (0.7%) and 49 new Category 4 patients (0.4%).
Category 3 patients refers to those with pneumonia, while Category 4 patients are those who suffer from pneumonia and require oxygen therapy.
Dr Noor Hisham also said there were 54 new Covid-19 patients who were under Category 5, which meant they were in critical condition and required ventilator support.
