PETALING JAYA: People should continue being vigilant and not treat Covid-19 as a mild flu, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

       “Every death is serious. It is less severe now but it’s not a mild flu. We must continue to focus on protecting our high-risk groups. Please get boosted,” said Khairy in a post on his Twitter account on Sunday.

       However, he added that the country is currently seeing a drastically reduced death rate compared to the Delta wave last year.

       “Last year, Covid-19 cases were high, surpassing 25,000 cases daily as many were not fully vaccinated or had yet to receive their booster.

       “Now, although case numbers are high again due to the Omicron variant, we are seeing lower death rates,” said Khairy.
