PETALING JAYA: Two of the country’s ports achieving a new milestone are among the Transport Ministry’s (MOT) achievements in 2021, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
In the monthly assembly of the ministry that was held on Tuesday (Jan 11), the Transport Minister said that the ports - namely Port Klang in Selangor and Tanjung Pelepas Port in Johor - managed to achieve a new record in container handling amid the pandemic.
“Throughout 2021, the MOT has achieved many successes that the country is proud of, despite facing various challenges.
“At the same time, the MOT has never neglected the interests of the people, especially when faced with difficult times,” he said in a Facebook post.
He added that among the achievements are the introduction of unlimited travel pass for public transport, and one-off cash-assistance to taxi and rental car drivers as well as e-hailing drivers.
“For the year 2022, I once again call on the MOT fraternity to continue working hard together to create new achievements,” he said.
In another Facebook post, Dr Wee said he received a courtesy call from MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Kamal.
“He briefed me on the latest status of the High-Speed Rail (HSR) project. We also discussed the way forward for this project and how it can best serve the interests of the people and the country.”
