SEPANG: A misunderstanding among gangsters led to the brutal murder of a 47-year-old man outside a restaurant in Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, Klang recently.

State police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said following the murder on Nov 6, police picked up six men around Klang and Banting on the same day.

"In a follow up operation four days later, we arrested three men at a restaurant in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling.

"Another man and two women were also detained at a house nearby," he told reporters on Friday (Nov 19).

Comm Arjunaidi said all the suspects have been remanded to assist in investigations.

"Following raids in Segamat and Muar, police also arrested four more suspects and seized two cars," he said, adding that upon questioning of the suspects, they led police to the locations and disposal methods of weapons and clothes.

He said the suspects had burnt their clothes in a field in Taman Sentosa, Klang, while the weapons used were thrown off the Kota Bridge into the Klang river.

Comm Arjunaidi said the suspects were believed to be part of a secret society.

"The victim was believed to be a secret society member too," he said, adding that the attack was triggered by a misunderstanding.

Police have identified the victim as Phua Kian Ming.

Comm Arjunaidi said the motive was still under investigation and urged anyone with information on the case to contact Asst Supt Mohamad Shahrir Zabidi at 012-6650 0895.
