Piers Morgan confronts Sky TV presenter for mocking booster plea as Omicron strikes

       The popular television presenter has been vocal in calling for people to make sure they receive the booster jab. He tweeted: "Hi Olivia, you're a well-known TV sports presenter so I'm curious - why would you mock a plea for people to take a booster jab that we know from the latest Omicron data may save their life?" Mr Morgan was reacting to Olivia Wayne's response to his earlier tweet that read: "One thing appears certain, the booster jab massively improves your chances of protection from Omicron.

       "So please get boosted ASAP.

       "It may save your life. Omicron."

       To this tweet, Olivia Wayne responded with, "Lol".

       Her tweet was accompanied by three laughing emojis.

       Olivia Wayne is a presenter on the Sky Sports television show Good Morning Sports Fans.

       On her Twitter account, she has retweeted the views of a Twitter user called Maajid Nawaz.

       On Wednesday 8 December the Government confirmed that England will move to Plan B following the rapid spread of the Omicron variant in the UK.

       Data suggests that cases of the Omicron variant could be doubling at a rate of as little as 2.5 to 3 days.

       The Government has said that face masks are to become compulsory in most public indoor venues, other than hospitality.

       An NHS Covid Pass is also now mandatory in specific settings, using a negative test or full vaccination.

       People have also been advised to work from home if they can.

       A press release from No. 10 stated: "The most recent data suggests that Omicron has a very high growth rate and is spreading rapidly.

       "S-gene drop out cases have grown from 0.15 percent of cases during the week of 21st November, to 3.3 percent of cases since 5 December in England.

       "There are currently 568 cases confirmed across the UK and early analysis from the UK Health Security Agency suggesting the doubling time could be as little as 2.5 to 3 days."

       Olivia Wayne was asked to give a comment about the Twitter exchange with Piers Morgan, but has yet to reply.
