KOTA KINABALU: A 26-year-old man, who threatened his mother with a knife was sentenced to six months’ jail and fined RM2,000.

       If he fails to pay the fine, he would have to serve another four months.

       Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles handed down the sentence on Chua Chi Kiang after he pleaded guilty to the charge on Tuesday (April 26).

       Chua threatened to injure his 57-year-old mother with a knife at their house in Kampung Hungab in Penampang near here at about 9.30pm on April 20.

       The offence was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum two-year jail term or a fine or both if convicted.
