IPOH: Seventeen new Covid-19 clusters were detected on Sunday (June 27).

More than half the new clusters were from workplaces in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor, including factories and construction sites.

The total number of active clusters nationwide now stands at 874.

The number of new daily cases dropped slightly with 5,586 cases reported compared to 5,803 cases on Saturday (June 26).

Health director-general Tan Dri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were also 60 deaths over the past 24 hours.

These, he said, comprised 52 Malaysians and eight foreigners.

"The youngest fatality was a 20-year-old from Selangor with obesity issues.

"The oldest were two 88-year-olds from Negri Sembilan. One of them had diabetes, high blood pressure and stroke while the other did not have any known illness," he said in a statement.

He said 4,777 people have recovered while 886 are in intensive care units, with 446 needing ventilator support.
