KUALA LUMPUR: Eight new Covid-19 clusters have been detected, with more than half linked to workplaces.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said the clusters were identified in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Johor, Penang and Labuan.
Of that, five clusters have been linked to workplaces.
On Thursday (Oct 28), he added that 261 cases were those that fell under the variants of concern (VOC) category.
"Of that, 259 are from the Delta variant, and two from the Beta variant," he said.
The national infectivity rate – known as R0, is currently at 0.94.
Negeri Sembilan recorded an R0 of 1.02, while Kuala Lumpur's R0 is at 1.0.
Malaysia recorded 6,377 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 2,454,749 cases since the pandemic began.
