       THE resumption of face-to-face learning on Oct 3 has seen all 10,060 primary and secondary schools in operation with the attendance of more than 86%, says Education Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin.

       He said records showed that as of Monday, 6,091 primary schools and 2,075 secondary schools had resumed normal classes involving a total of 4,251,221 students.

       “This involves 2,517,233 primary school pupils and 1,733,988 secondary school students.

       “For Kelantan and Sarawak that are still in Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan, a total of 1,894 schools are in operations, involving 1,526 primary schools and 368 secondary schools,” he said during Question Time yesterday.

       Radzi said for the two states, only special needs students and pre-school students were allowed to resume face-to-face learning, involving 49,535 primary school pupils and 84,497 secondary school students.

       “As a whole, the number of schools in operation are 10,060 involving 4,385,281 students.

       “According to records at the Education Ministry, the average attendance is more than 85%.

       “This shows that the reopening of schools was generally well-received by parents and students,” he said.
