JOHOR BARU: A new Covid-19 cluster has been reported in Pulai Perdana Tiga here following targeted testing by the Johor Baru Health Office.
State Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said as of Monday (Jan 10), 47 positive cases have been identified among mosque congregation as well as residents at the housing area.
“A total of 164 close contacts are still waiting for their Covid-19 test results taken on Sunday (Jan 9).
“All positive cases have been instructed to go into isolation and their close contacts have also been told to undergo home quarantine.
“Public places such as mosques and schools in the area were told to close for the time being,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 11).
He reminded all individuals and close contacts of those who went for prayers in the Taman Sri Pulai Perdana mosque from Dec 26 to Jan 4 to go for a Covid-19 screening.
“Those who keep their close contact history a secret could contribute to the further spread of the disease so please do not hide the information,” he added.
Vidyananthan added that 278 cases of Covid-19 were reported on Monday (Jan 10).
The accumulated total of Covid-19 cases in Johor is 248,419, where 238,101 have recovered and 3,878 deaths were recorded.
Currently, 6,440 Covid-19 cases are still active where the individuals are undergoing quarantine.
