JOHOR BARU: No changes will be made to the current half-metre physical distance for congregational and Friday prayers in Johor, says Tosrin Jarvanthi following a reported Covid-19 cluster in Pulai Perdana Tiga that involved mosque-goers.

The Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman added that although the cases were linked to Umrah pilgrims who have returned home, the physical distance will continue to be practised.

“We are aware of the cluster but so far we have not received any instruction (to change) from His Majesty Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

“So we will continue to practice the current 0.5m physical distance for congregational and Friday prayers,” he said when met by reporters after the post-flood humanitarian aid flag-off ceremony at the Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) office here Thursday (Jan 13).

He added that JAINJ will continue to work together with the Johor Health Department to closely monitor the situation in Pulai Perdana Tiga.

Meanwhile, on the aid programme, Tosrin said RM3mil have been allocated by the Johor government through JAINJ to help flood victims in the state.
