Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, and Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey are all putting their focus on seats the Conservative Party is hoping to defend on election night, new data shows.

In what could be a sign that the Tories are in for a difficult night on July 4, Mr Sunak has committed much of his time to visiting Tory seats that had massive majorities after the 2019 vote.

Research carried out by the Press Association and Reach Data Unit showed that the Prime Minister visited 54 constituencies during the campaign up until July 2.

A total of 46 of those voted Conservative at the last general election, 10 of which have notional majorities of over 20,000.

The leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Ed Davey, has visited 49 constituencies in between his paddle boarding and bungee jumping exploits. Most of those (42) voted Conservative in the last election.

Sir Keir, meanwhile, has visited 51 constituencies, 38 of which voted Tory last time around. None of the Labour leader’s visits were to Tory seats with 20,000-plus majorities, but he did visit six constituencies with majorities over 15,000.

You can see where the three main party leaders have been visiting by using our interactive map.

The South East of England has seen by far the most visits by the three main party leaders. Almost a quarter (23 percent) of the visits have been in the region, 36 in total.

The South West has seen the next highest share at 14 percent (22 visits), followed by London with 11 percent (17 visits).

Wales has received just 4 percent of visits (six in total), Yorkshire and the Humber 5 percent (eight in total), and the North West 7 percent (11 in total).

There has only been one visit to Northern Ireland, but the three main parties don’t field candidates there.
