ISKANDAR PUTERI: A total of 18 pregnant women have died due to Covid-19 in Johor, says state Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan.
He said that as of Monday (Sept 6), some 30,000 pregnant women had received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the state.
"Meanwhile, a total of 9,177 expectant mothers in Johor have been fully vaccinated," he said in his winding-up speech during the Johor state assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar here on Tuesday (Sept 7).
He was responding to questions from Gan Peck Cheng (PH-Penggeram) who asked for the number of pregnant women who had died due to Covid-19 and the number who had been vaccinated.
On a separate matter, the Kahang assemblyman said that in order to reduce congestion at the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium Covid-19 assessment centre (CAC), the public was urged to use a virtual CAC instead.
"For those with an option to go to a private CAC, they are welcome to do so.
"Apart from the Pasir Gudang CAC, the state government has also opened another CAC at Laman Extreme Pasir Gudang, which has been operating since Aug 19," Vidyananthan said.
