The A206 is shut in both directions through Greenwich, southeast London, following the collision which happened at around 7.30am. A man has been rushed to hospital, the ambulance service has said.

       London's Air Ambulance was sent to the scene, which is near Greenwich Park and the Old Royal Naval College beside River Thames.

       Westbound traffic is very busy back to the Blackwall Tunnel Southern Approach near New Charlton.

       And eastbound queues have reached Deptford Bridge and the A2 at Blackheath Hill, reports My London.

       Motorists are using the A2 through Blackheath as a diversion in both directions but this road is congested as a consequence. It's also slow near Vanbrugh Park.

       Bus routes have been diverted as a result of the crash.

       Commenting on the crash one Twitter account posted: "Traffic in Greenwich at a standstill due to an accident on Trafalgar Road this morning.

       "Do Note, Trafalgar Road Is Still Closed And May Be For Some Time."

       The condition of the man involved is still not known.

       A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 7.31am on Wednesday, November 5 to Trafalgar Road at the junction with Maze Hill, SE10.

       "A car was reported to be in collision with a motorbike. LAS and London's Air Ambulance attended the scene.

       "One man has been taken to hospital, his condition awaits. Local road closures are in place while emergency services deal."

       A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7:23am today (5 January) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist on Trafalgar Road, Greenwich.

       "We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a medic in a car. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.

       "A man was treated at the scene and taken to a major trauma centre."
