PETALING JAYA: Police have detained a couple who claimed to be doing a “social experiment” by entering various premises even though they were not fully vaccinated.

South Klang district police chief Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli said the couple, aged 35 and 36, were arrested at their house in Bandar Putera 2, Klang, at 5pm on Monday.

The Star’s Malay language portal mStar reported that the arrest was made following a public complaint regarding a social media post made under the account of “Mujaheeda Soleha” that went viral.

“The case is being investigated under Section 269, Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications Commission Act,” ACP Shamsul said in a statement yesterday.

He urged the public to always adhere to the standard operating procedure set by the National Security Council to curb the spread of Covid-19.

On Monday, the woman shared her experience on Facebook about a “social experiment” she carried out with her husband and son despite not completing two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

According to the woman, she managed to enter several supermarkets and restaurants without premises operators checking on their vaccination status.

Irate netizens were appalled and considered the couple’s actions irresponsible.
