One man was fatally shot and two others were wounded when gunfire broke out late Sunday afternoon in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast Washington, according to the D.C. police.
The most seriously wounded of the three had multiple gunshot wounds and died at a hospital after the shooting about 5:10 p.m. in the area of 16th and V Streets, according to Cmdr. John Branch.

The other two men suffered minor injuries, Branch said at the shooting scene. They were described by police as conscious and breathing.
It was not clear what led to the gunfire.
The site of the shooting is a residential street of single-family houses.
In an initial report, police said they were looking for a man who drove away from the scene.
