Struggling mum dies after getting trapped inside charity clothing bin while digging through donations

A YOUNG mum has died after becoming trapped inside a charity clothing bin as she desperately rifled through donations.

Alarrah Lawrence, 33, was found hanging "half in, half out" of a clothing bank in Western Australia in a grim early morning discovery.

CCTV footage reviewed by cops shows the mum-of-one drive into Stockland Baldivis shopping centre in Rockingham at about 1.40am on Tuesday, before parking up and approaching the bin.

She then stood on a plastic bucket to boost herself up enough to look into the Good Sammys charity bin before starting to dig through clothing, the West Australian reports.

But the young mum is then believed to have slipped off the bucket - leaving the top half of her body stuck in the bin and her feet dangling out.

Tragically, Ms Lawrence wasn't found until hours later when a member of the public spotted her hanging out of the bin after 5am, with clothing strewn across the floor under her feet.

Rockingham Detective-Senior Sergeant Andrew Elliott said analysis suggests she died from asphyxiation.

"Through our investigation so far it seems to be a non-suspicious death where a person has tragically died through very unfortunate circumstances," he said.

"It seems she became trapped and unable to remove herself from the bin."

He added it would have been "very, very confronting" for the passerby who first found her.

Ms Lawrence's heartbroken boyfriend hailed her his "soulmate" in a heartfelt tribute.

"This is a cruel world," he wrote on Facebook.

"Can't believe you're gone. I'm devastated and words can't explain.

"I'm going to miss you and I just wish I could tell you I love you one more time my soulmate."

Floral tributes have been left at the scene, with friends and family describing Ms Lawrence, mum to a 15-month-old son, as a "pocket rocket" and "breath of fresh air".

According to those living in the area, people are often seen rummaging through the charity banks in the early hours.

"There's always clothes scattered around those bins," one neighbour said.

"That's why they've recently installed a CCTV camera and a light in the car park."
