KULAI: The police have arrested five male Myanmar nationals over the murder of one of their countrymen in a fight at a foreign workers dormitory at Taman Scientex Kulai here.

       Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the five were aged between 20 and 43 and were arrested in two raids in Johor Baru and Melaka on Monday (Dec 27).

       "We have reasons to believe that the five suspects are involved in the murder as prior to the victim’s death, they had been drinking liquor together," he added.

       Supt Tok said the suspects were being remanded until Jan 2 next year to help with the investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

       On the incident, he said that the 25-year-old victim’s supervisor received a call from one of the foreign workers staying at the dormitory to alert him that a fight broke out at around 9pm on Sunday (Dec 26).

       "The supervisor went to the dormitory where he found the victim’s lifeless body in a seated position and covered with blood before lodging a report at the Senai police station," said Supt Tok.

       Supt Tok then said that a police team found the body, which had stab wounds on it and added that a knife believed to be the murder weapon was seized at the scene.

       He added on Tuesday (Dec 28) that four stab wounds were found on the victim's chest and said that the body has been sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post mortem.
