SHAH ALAM: The weapon used on Friday’s murder-robbery in Puchong Prima was a police-issued handgun stolen from a murdered lance corporal in 2017.
"The gun used belonged to lance corporal Valentino Mesa, who was killed in 2017 at the Penggiran USJ police station.
"We are investigating if the weapon was used in other robberies linked to the suspect," said Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed during a press conference on Saturday (March 12) at the contingent headquarters here.
According to police investigations, the suspect had stolen around RM500,000 during the robbery on Friday (March 11).
He then left the scene and attempted to deposit the money at another bank where he was eventually caught.
"We received detailed information of the suspect's whereabouts following the robbery from an informant who we cannot identify publicly. This person is a hero," he said.
