PETALING JAYA: Musician Radhi OAG (pic) has claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here to hurting his ex-wife.
The 45-year-old is accused of voluntarily causing hurt to Nur Shahira Ayu Zahiri, 28, at a parking lot in Kota Damansara, Selangor, at 2.29pm on April 19.
The OAG frontman, whose full name is Muhammad Radhi Razali, was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
He faces up to one year’s jail, a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both, if convicted.
A bespectacled Radhi, wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt with dark trousers, stood in the dock as the charge was read out to him yesterday.
He replied “faham” (understood) and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohamed Wafi Husain offered bail at RM7,000.
Lawyer Haziq Aizuddin Subhi pleaded for a lower amount.
“My client has no fixed income and has to support his children who are under his custody.
“Bail is meant only as a guarantee and not to be punitive,” Haziq said.
Magistrate Muhammad Iskandar Zainol fixed bail at RM2,500 in one surety. He also ordered Radhi not to disturb witnesses in the case.
The case is set for mention on July 13.
On April 21, mStar reported that Nur Shahira lodged a police report claiming that Radhi had “pushed” her after declining to take a photo together.
Radhi and Nur Shahira were divorced in July 2019. They have two children.
Prior to his marriage to Nur Shahira, Radhi was married to Shazlin Sharif. They were divorced on June 8, 2010, and have a son.
Radhi and his band OAG were popular in the 1990s with hits such as 60’s TV and Name of the Game.
