Meghan Markle's revelation to Oprah Winfrey that she had no understanding of royal life has been dismantled by Rosemary Shrager, who said "everyone knows what it's like, even if you're living abroad". The famous chef shared her belief that the Duchess of Sussex had "her own agenda" when she married Prince Harry as she appeared on Jeremy Vine on Five on Friday.

Rosemary Shrager told host Jeremy Vine: "I'm not going to believe that she didn't know what it was like because everybody knows what it's like, even if you're living abroad.

"You know once you're in an institution like that, a mega institution, you need to follow the rules

"There are things that are obviously changing now, which I agree with because I think people do need to work, the royals need to work.

"I have my opinion that when she came here, she knew what she was getting into but she's got her own agenda and I think she's obviously in love with Harry and wanted to do it her way."

During the couple's tell-all interview with Oprah in March, the Duchess claimed that she had been unaware of any royal protocols or the history of the Royal Family.

She told the story of how she had been taught by Sarah Ferguson to curtsy to the Queen, after being unaware that it was expected of family members.

She said, "It is very easy, especially as an American, to say, ‘These are famous people.’ No, this is completely different ball game."

Following this, she continued" ”Thank God I didn’t know a lot about the family. Thank God I hadn’t researched. I would’ve been so in my head about it.”

The couple's explosive interview with Oprah detailed their reasons for leaving the Royal Family in January 2020.

Allegations included Buckingham Palace ignoring Meghan's struggles with mental health, leaving her to feel suicidal whilst pregnant, and the Royal Family's decision to deny their son Archie a title.

They also claimed Palace aides would refuse to correct damaging articles that were regularly circulated about the Duchess, leaving her to feel unsupported and vilified.

The most damning allegation, however, was that an unnamed senior member of the Royal Family made a racist remark about the skin colour of their unborn child.

Meghan was a working royal from her marriage to Prince Harry in May 2018, until the couple announced their intention to withdraw as senior royals and relocate to North America.

Since leaving the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan have established their own non-profit organisation Archewell, and have signed multi-million-dollar deals with streaming giants Netflix and Spotify.

They have also conducted a number of high-profile interviews, where Prince Harry has criticised his royal relatives.

The couple currently resides in Montecito, California with their two young children, Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana.
