PETALING JAYA: A total of 1,000 families in the Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency received basic essentials and food supplies following the Covid-19 pandemic, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister said the recipients, including p-hailing riders received various kitchen essentials such as rice, flour, sugar, and cooking oil among others to assist them during this period.
"Hopefully, with this assistance it will help those who are truly in need," said Dr Wee, who is also the Ayer Hitam MP, in a statement on Saturday (Oct 9).
According to Dr Wee, the programme was a collaboration between the Transport Ministry and the Johor Port Authority (LPJ) under the LPJ C.A.R.E.S programme, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to help the local community.
The assistance, which consisted of basic kitchen essentials, was also distributed by LPJ chairman Rosnan Fathlal.
Also present was LPJ general manager Kamaruzaman Munasir.
