IPOH: An elderly woman was found stabbed to death at a house in Kampung Cina Menglembu here.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the body of Aw Foong Meng, 73, was found on the floor in a pool of blood by the police at 3.25pm on Tuesday (Nov 9).
"We received an emergency call at about 3.10pm that a woman was found unconscious.
"After police arrived at the house, our officers found her body next to a bed and arrested her nephew, who was in the house," he told reporters when met near the crime scene.
"There were slash and stab wounds near the victim's neck.
"A knife was also found embedded in her neck," he added.
ACP Yahaya said the police would get a remand order for the suspect on Wednesday.
The case, he said, would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"We will also be checking the nephew's mental health and see if he has any medical records," he said.
Former Menglembu assemblyman Lim Pek Har, who was at the scene said the suspect tried to call assemblyman Steven Chaw at about 3pm.
"He had wanted our help to call the ambulance and the police," she said.
