KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia recorded net foreign inflow of RM17.77mil in the final trading week of 2021, after five consecutive weeks of net outflow.
According to MIDF Research data, foreign investors were net buyers for three out of the five trading days, with the largest net inflow registered on Tuesday to the tune of RM110.37mil.
Local institutions meanwhile recorded a cumulative net purchase of RM274.82mil over the week.
Retailers however were net sellers everyday of the past week, which MIDF noted was a reversal from the trend seen throughout 2021.
"For the week, retailers net sold -RM292.59mil worth of equities in Bursa.
"To note, this was the second week retailers recorded net selling after nine consecutive weeks on inflow," said the brokerage.
However, retailers remained the only net buyer of local equity for 2021, with RM12.14bil net purchase over the course of the year.
Local institutions and foreign investors were net sellers of RM8.99bil and RM3.15bil of local stock respectively.
