A WOMAN has been found dead in a canal in Greater Manchester in a grim early morning discovery.
Police scrambled to the scene in Altrincham at about 6am this morning, and a body was found in the water.

Cops and forensic teams have taped off the area around Seamon's Moss Bridge to investigate.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called around 6am today to a report of a body in a canal near Oldfield Road, Altrincham.
"Emergency services attended and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
Traffic is being diverted away from the area near Bridgewater Canal as police investigate.
