IPOH: A mega drive-through vaccination centre (PPV) will be set up in Tambun near here as the state prepares to enter the third phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

       Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said the centre could see between 5,000 and 7,000 doses of vaccines being administered daily.

       He added that the drive-through mega PPV would be set up as soon as the new batch of 688,000 doses of vaccine arrives this month.

       “We are also setting up new PPV in Tanjung Malim and at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kampar,” he said yesterday, adding that three special PPV for industrial workers are in the pipeline.

       On Monday, Saarani said some 147,000 doses of vaccine were expected to arrive next week.

       He said about 66% or about 1.2 million people in the state have registered on MySejahtera.

       “More than 400,000 people, aged 18 and above, have received their first dose while 239,147 have both doses. Once the vaccine arrives, we will be able to administer 24,000 to 30,000 shots a day,” he said.

       Separately, Saarani said so far, no complaints have been received regarding the smartphones distributed by the state.

       “In fact, there were more applications received for the phones,” he said in response to a tweet by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman that another smartphone, allegedly presented by the government, had exploded.
