JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor dropped to 2,154 people from 625 families as of 4pm Tuesday (Jan 11).

This is compared to 2,298 victims from 660 families at 8am.

State Health and Environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan (pic) said that however no new flood temporary relief centres (PPS) were closed and the number of the centres remain at 35.

"Muar has the highest number of evacuees with 772 people from 229 families.

"This is followed by Segamat with 746 people from 203 families at 16 PPS.

"Meanwhile, a total of 555 victims from 175 families are at nine PPS in Tangkak and 81 people from 18 families sheltered in the remaining PPS in Batu Pahat," he said in a statement.

He said a river - Sungai Muar (Bukit Kepong) in Muar - was still at a dangerous level at 4.1m but was seeing a downward trend.

Vidyananthan also noted that Jalan Pogoh (Kampung Limau Manis and Kampung Paya Besar) in Segamat from KM6.5 to KM6.7 was only accessible to heavy vehicles.

"Jalan Pogoh (Felcra Pogoh) in Segamat from KM14.4 to KM16.4 is closed to all vehicles while Jalan Felda Bukit Aping (Jalan Kemuning 1) in Kota Tinggi is also closed to all vehicles due to a landslide.

"Two roads in Muar, Jalan Tekam-Pogoh from KM1.0 to KM2.0 and Jalan Muar-Labis (before Sungai Tui bridge) from KM59.5 to KM61.3km, are closed to all vehicles,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jalan Lingkaran Barat in Kluang at KM1.1 was only accessible to light vehicles following a landslide along KM1.1.

He added that no rain had been reported in all 10 districts between 1am and 8am on Tuesday (Jan 11).
