PETALING JAYA: Three new clusters were detected on Thursday (Dec 30), bringing the total number of active clusters to 221, says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 15 Covid-19 cases recorded among flood victims in temporary relief centres (PPS).
He said that the overall cases among flood victims stayed at 442, adding that there were no new clusters reported on Thursday among flood victims.
There were 71 cases of infectious diseases among flood victims involving acute respiratory infections (26 cases), skin disease (30), acute gastroenteritis (AGE) (13) and hand foot mouth disease (2).
On Thursday, the daily Covid-19 infections in the country remained above the 3,000 mark with 3,997 new cases recorded, taking the cumulative total to 2,754,513.
He said from the total new cases, 64 were in categories three, four and five while the remaining cases were in categories one and two with no or mild symptoms.
"The daily cases involved 3,631 local infections and 366 imported cases.
“There are 281 cases in the intensive care unit (ICU) while 155 cases require respiratory assistance,” he said in a statement.
He said 3,984 recoveries were reported on Thursday, taking the cumulative total to 2,681,390, adding that the infectivity rate (Rt) in the country was 0.95.
