Prince William, 39, spoke to the BBC’s chief political reporter Adam Fleming in a 30-minute interview for the Newscast programme. During his discussion with the national broadcaster, the Duke of Cambridge detailed the journey he has taken to set up the Earthshot Prize and explained why it is important for people to address climate change going forward.

       But when the Prince was shown a few clips from his own BBC documentary series, The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet, he opened up about how his co-host Sir David Attenborough, 95, delighted Prince George, 8, by bringing round one of his collections.

       “He was brilliant with the children when he met them,” William said.

       “He brought out his fossil collection and showed the children that.

       “Which, I think, George at the time absolutely adored - he got loads of dinosaur fossils.”

       The BBC revealed Sir Attenborough handed Prince George a fossilised shark tooth when he visited Kensington Palace in September 2020.

       The young Prince was said to have looked captivated as he was handed the tooth of a carcharocles megalodon, a now extinct 50-foot-long mega-toothed shark.

       However, it was not just George who seemed to hold in awe the 95-year-old naturalist.

       The Duke of Cambridge added: “And so, he’s just always been, as you see him on TV, just a fantastically charismatic and experienced man.

       “But you can’t stop and listen to him.

       “You’ve got to ask for another story.

       “And that voice, you know, I mean it’s just legendary, isn’t it?
