AMPANG: A 22-year-old man, believed to be under the influence of drugs, has been arrested for threatening his niece at knifepoint.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the suspect barged into the victim's home in Taman Tasik Tambahan at about 2.45am on Monday (Oct 25).
"The suspect first approached the victim's elder sister and had an argument with her.
"He then went to the kitchen and took a knife before threatening the victim that he would kill her," he said when contacted.
The victim's family alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and apprehended the suspect.
"We believe the suspect was hallucinating as he was under the influence of drugs.
"He tested positive for methamphetamine," he said.
ACP Mohamad Farouk said the suspect has been remanded until Thursday (Oct 28).
"The suspect is jobless and still single.
"He is the younger brother of the victim's mother," he said.
ACP Mohamad Farouk said it was the second incident involving the suspect and the victim.
"He was charged for threatening to kill the victim in August.
"The court convicted and sentenced the man to three months' jail," he said.
